Meaning: Cat Fairy

A type of cat fairy that inhabits the Scottish highlands. It is black with a pattern of white on its chest, with emerald green eyes. It is able to speak the human tongue and walk on two feet. It usually keeps its natural form hidden. It is said that the Cait-Sith have their own separate kingdom. Usually, they do no harm to humans, but if one abuses a cat, their limitless fury is called forth. A similar cat fairy is also mentioned in French folktales.
