Lillith is the queen of the night of ancient Babylonia. She delivers lascivious dreams to men as they sleep, causes pregnant women to spontaneously abort their fetuses, and eats young boys. She was the first wife of Adam, and desired an equal relationship, but Adam insisted on being the dominant partner. Thus spurned, Lillith escaped the Garden of Eden and assumed her present form and demeanor. God then proceeded to create Eve to be Adam's companion. The daughter of Lillith is named Lillim.
