Mammoths are large elephant-like creatures thought to be the dominant species during the ice age. Judging from the preserved corpses being discovered in the permafrost, mammoths had brown or bronze body hair and huge tusks. Some Siberian native tribes believed that mammoths were blessed by spirits. At the end of the ice age, mammoths failed to adapt to the new regional warmth, and were thus quickly eliminated by humans seeking sustainance.
