Legend says that one feather of the phoenix can bring back one who has been dead a thousand years. The phoenix is an eagle-shaped flaming bird with deep crimson feathers and a blue tail. When the phoenix is about to die, it goes to a volcano and dives into the lava. From this act, a new phoenix is born in its place. The lifespan of the phoenix is said to be around 500 years. There is also a theory that a newly-born phoenix takes the form of an insect-like larva, and gradually assumes its adult shape.
